Peace River Coal made a donation to the PAC (Parent Advisory Committee of $2000 to help with the costs of the installation of a new playground equipment for the Tumbler Ridge Elementary School.
The PAC has applied to the BC Federation for Parent Advisory Councils for half of the $40,000 expected cost of the playgound which will be used to purchase the equipment. The local PAC then has to raise the money for the delivery and installation fees; for example the gravel for the project is expected to cost around $7,000. Osmond says that the grant the PAC has applied for is not yet confirmed but they will know in a week or two if it has been approved. The existing playground has been ?all played out? and needs replacement.
$8500 (approximately) has been raised to date by the committee for the installation and infrastructure costs.
