Raptor’s Rap: Here comes the Hockey (there go the coaches)

Crosbie Bourdeaux

SEPTEMBER 10, 2013 IS THE OFFICIAL DATE THAT HOCKEY WILL BE STARTING IN TUMBLER RIDGE!!!!! So hurry out and get registered.

We are all getting ready for the upcoming hockey season, getting skates sharpened, buying hockey sticks, making sure your equipment still fits from the summer growing spurt and ensuring that you are registered.

Parents are getting ready for the driving to practices, driving to games, getting their voices ready for a lot of yelling and cheering and coaches are getting ready to hit the ice to. But unfortunately, and with sadness, TRMHA will be sending their teams on the ice missing two coaches.

Kurt Render and Jason Collison have both left Tumbler Ridge after many years of supporting TRMH. Jason has been played hockey in TR since 1983 with dedication. This is the same dedication that he had coaching over the years.

We will miss his skills and teachings and most of all the excitement that would EXPLODE from him during a game when a ref didn’t make a call they should or made a call they shouldn’t have. He was a coach that worked his team hard and expected you to perform to the best of your own abilities, but also had the fun side to him that he had a great relationship with all the kids he coached. He will be sadly missed!

Kurt played hockey with TRMH for the four years that he was in Tumbler Ridge, as well he coached. We will miss all that he brought to the ice as a coach and the pacing that he did. He like Jason had a great relationship with the kids and expected the kids to work hard and play harder but not to forget to have fun and enjoy it. Your skills and dedication will be missed this year and the years to come.

TRMHA would like to wish you both well and thank you for al that you contributed to hockey in Tumbler Ridge.
