RCMP Advisory – Injured Sledder


On March 22, 2014 shortly after 2 in the afternoon, the Chetwynd RCMP received notification that a Spot Beacon had been activated by a group of 6 sledders, one of which was injured after entering a ravine, in the area of km 55 Moberly FSR near Silversands, BC. The sledder, who resides in the Fort St. John area, appeared to have suffered a spinal injury and required an airlift from their location. The North Peace Search and Rescue team was activated. The group was located not far from the beacon’s coordinates and the injured man was transported via helicopter directly to Fort St. John for medical treatment. The extent of the mans injuries is not known at this time, however, he is believed to have suffered spinal, rib and pelvic injuries.
