On May 30, 2004 the Tumbler Ridge RCMP were called to an accident on Sukunka Avenue where a vehicle had been driving at a high rate of sped, lost control, and narrowly missed a residence, hitting a tree. The driver fled the scene and was apprehended a short time later.

Investigation showed that the diver was operating the vehicle while impaired. Charged with impaired driving and other criminal code offences is 34 year old Daniel Frayne of Tumbler Ridge.

The recent RCMP undercover drug investigation in the Peace Region that netted 63 accused, facing a total of 91 charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Criminal Code of Canada has seen two Tumbler Ridge residents charged.

Charged with Trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine) is 21 year old Kyle Crook and 27 year old Leigh Carpenter. Crook and Carpenter will be appearing in Dawson Creek Provincial Court later in July.
