Recycle your old telephone book

Fort St. John–The new Telus telephone book is now being delivered to homes and businesses in the Peace River Regional District.

Unlike in past years, though, students in the North Peace and South Peace are not gearing up for the annual interschool telephone book collection competition.

The new publisher of the Telus phone book, Yellow Pages Group, decided not to continue with the incentive program of 10 cents per phone book collected by schools.

The phone books are 100% recyclable and can be taken to either the cream-coloured recycling bins or to the local Recycling Depot.

Last year, over 9,400 old telephone books were collected by students in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, Taylor and rural areas.

It is estimated that approximately 30,000 new phone books will be distributed throughout the Peace Region, one for each land-line telephone number.
