Ridge Ramble becomes Triathlon

Charles Helm

For the past 24 years the Ridge Ramble Biathlon has been an annual Tumbler Ridge summer fixture, organized by the Wolverine Nordic and Mountain Society (WNMS).

For this special 25-year celebration, WNMS is partnering with the Tumbler Ridge Community Centre, converting the event into the inaugural Tumbler Ridge Triathlon (the “TR TRI”) on May 31.

This is a “sprint triathlon”. The distances are: 750 metre swim (30 lengths of the pool), a 20 km cycle (2 loops of 10 km on the circuit around town) and a 5 km run (Monkman-Willow-Mackenzie-Hwy 29 loop)

The maximum number of swimming entries that will be accepted is 32: two flights of 16, with four lanes, with four swimmers per lane starting at ten-second intervals.

Entry fee will be $30 for individual event and $50 for team event. There will be male and female categories, with a maximum of three people per team.

Entries for the individual event open on April 14, and close on Friday 23 May at 7 pm. Entries for the team event open on May 5, and close on Friday May 23 at 7 pm.

Entry forms will be available at Community Centre front desk or will be printable from the WNMS website: www.wnms.pris.ca

Entry forms can be handed in at Community Centre front desk or mailed in. Further details will follow closer to the opening date for registrations.

So why not get swimming, cycling and running fit, and consider entering the inaugural TR TRI?
