Ridge Ramble Biathlon Results

No wonder the pioneers of this community used to call it ?Little Chicago?. If you had been standing between Northgate and Southgate along Monkman on Saturday, June 3rd, you would have been blown away.

Literally, because the winds were very high and it made for a chilly event.

Figuratively blown away, because the Ridge Ramble Biathlon took place and it was a lot of fun for everyone, participants, timekeepers, organizers and even the press.

Beginning at 9 am with 4 km (two laps) cycle followed by 2 km (single lap) run, the young people of Tumbler Ridge began their competition. Cheered on by the crowd of family members and friends, the kids were understandably worn down towards the finish line. In a memorable move, Councillor Larry White ran back to cheer them on and even ran in with some of them.

As the wind assaulted the timekeepers, organizers and even the press, nothing was better than seeing some of the faces on the kids as they slowly garnered their last bit of strength for the last leg home. The street was cordoned off for them, whereas the adults had no barriers for their race; 10 km cycle and 5 km run.
