Ridge Ramble Run a success

The 5th annual Ridge Ramble Cross Country Run, organized by the Wolverine Nordic and Mountain Society at the Tumbler Ridge golf course on 14 October, saw a great turnout of 79 athletes. Age categories ranged from grade 1-3 right up to the masters (40 and over) event. Runners from Grande Prairie, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Grimshaw, Peace River and Fairview joined our local athletes for a fun event, which is part of the regional Wolves Cross Country running series.

Many of the younger runners are participants in the cross country running programs at the elementary and high schools in town, and coaches Linda Helm, Birgit Sharman, Charles Helm and Sandra Schlief were impressed with both the turnout and the performances by these students. For many adult locals like Michelle Payne, Sandra Schlief, Kevin Sharman, Lisa Buckley, and Marsha Dufresne, this was their first Ridge Ramble race ever, and their participation and enthusiasm were inspiring.

Thanks go to the TR Golf Club for allowing WNMS to use their outstanding facilities. Many thanks also to the wonderful volunteers, from registration to timekeepers to course marshals, who all make such events possible.
