On Saturday, January 29th the Wolverine Nordic and Mountain Society hosted its ninth annual Ridge Ramble Cross Country Ski Race. The 20 entrants enjoyed beautiful weather, and enthusiastic crowds and volunteers. The race course was altered due to the snow conditions, but ace trail groomer Larry White managed to create a great ski trail that was fast as well as very spectator friendly. Many of the younger racers borrowed ski equipment from Tumbler Ridge Elementary School so they could participate in the race, and there were smiles all around as each skier crossed the finish line.
All entrants were treated to lunch by the friendly folks who run the golf course, and there were great door prizes for kids and adults alike. The grand prize winner of a kids? kicksled, donated by Dan?s Outdoor Accessories, was Esther Walkley.
The Wolverine Nordic and Mountain Society would like to thank all of the local businesses that donated to this race, as it would be impossible to have it without our sponsors. We would also like to thank our volunteers, and the helpful people from the golf course.
