Every Monday, all winter long, Sandy Treit has been driving in to Dawson to curl. Her dedication paid off when her team was one of two teams that traveled to Calgary to compete in the provincial curling championships last weekend.
Hang on. Calgary?
?The Peace Curling Association is affiliated with Alberta, so we are considered a part of Alberta,? says Sandy. ?There are teams from as far north as Fort Nelson, to Valleyview, to us, in Dawson Creek.?
There were 11 teams competing at the district championships in Taylor a few weeks ago, and Sandy?s team wend as the Peace Curling Association?s B-side Champions. ?Incidentally, the other team–who are from Grande Prairie–won the provincials, so now they are representing Alberta at the National level.?
Treit?s team didn?t do quite as well, winning two of five matches.
