It?s here again, the opportunity to have a fun day on the golf course, win some fantastic prizes and help the Library Children?s programs. The second annual Investor?s Community Golf tournament will feature prizes for every golfer, goodie bags, a steak dinner, an opportunity to win a trip for two to the British Open in 2005 and ?hole in one? prizes, which include a four-year lease on a 2004 Honda Element and a 2004 Artic Cat Quad, all of this for only $65 per person. The tournament will be an eighteen hole, four ball scramble.
The Investors Group sponsors this tournament. ?Tumbler Ridge is good to me and my business,? says event coordinator Ray Menard. ?I am a firm believer in giving back to the communities I work in. All of the charity work that I do goes to children ad they are our future.? Last year?s tournament had 88 participants and all proceeds went to sponsor high school athletic programs. This year?s proceeds will be going to the Tumbler Ridge Public Library?s Children?s programs. The aim again is to have 80 participants but Menard points out that they will open the tournament to more than 80 if possible. ?The benefit to the community is two-fold,? says Menard. ?First, it generates dollars for a great community cause and second, it is a day of great fun for the participants.?
Marco Milankov, golf course manager, is really excited about this tournament. ?This is the Golf Course?s biggest tournament of the year and I?m glad that Ray chooses to hold this event in Tumbler Ridge. The fact that all proceeds go to a charitable cause, makes it all the better.?
?I think this is a very generous and wonderful offer that Ray and the Investors Group are making to the Library.? Says Librarian Michelle Burton. The money that is raised will go towards children?s programs including the Summer Reading Club, Eco Kids, Story Time and Wednesday Club. The Summer Reading Club encourages children to read throughout the summer. Eco Kids is a program sanctioned by Environment Canada and is coupled with Greenwing (a junior division of Ducks Unlimited). Story Time is a twice-weekly event for preschool children featuring a story, a craft and a movie. Wednesday Club takes place twice a month and is aimed at school age children. Wednesday club is event oriented, students come in after school and learn about various events, holidays and cultures.
The tournament will start at 11AM shotgun. The steak dinner, provided by the Golf Course restaurant, will begin after the rounds are complete. Come out for a day of fun and prizes!
