Second ?Blankets Of Hope? Wrap And Luncheon

The Tumbler Ridge Legion Ladies Auxiliary held their second Blanket Wrap on Tuesday, November 27. Everyone present enjoyed a light luncheon hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary; before another 31 handmade blankets and quilts were wrapped, tagged, and readied for shipment .

These blankets are being shipped directly to BC/Yukon Command in Vancouver; and from there, they will be forwarded to the hospital in Germany where they will be given to our injured soldiers.

We would like to thank The District Of Tumbler Ridge for their donation of pins and Ellen Sager for her donation of Canadian Flag Patches. We also extend a very heartfelt ?Thank You? to the ladies who made the lovely blankets and quilts ? including three ladies from Fort McMurray who sent blankets to one of our local residents for inclusion in this shipment.

After the blankets were wrapped and I arrived back home, I received a very heartwarming telephone call from a lady from Gibbon, Alberta, who wanted to know more about our Project.

She also wished to know if she could make some blankets, send them to us and have us forward them to Vancouver for shipment overseas. As mentioned earlier, the response we have had is simply overwhelming – with 64 blankets shipped to date!!

I have also had a few blankets brought to me since our latest shipment; and they will be shipped when those from Alberta arrive.

Again, a great big THANK-YOU to everyone who helped in any way to make this Project the great success that it has become. Your generosity and big-heartedness are second to none!!
