Where have the weeks gone??? Seems I just wrote an article last week and now we have more events to report.
Saturday, April 26, seven seniors from Tumbler Ridge spent a day at Hudson Hope for a fun Cribbage tournament. First, let me say, the weather was gorgeous and a drive in the country was just what we needed after our long winter. One of our group just went along for the drive and spent time touring the town and enjoying the sun while the rest of us played cards, ate a wonderful luncheon and accepted the hospitality of the Hudson Hope Seniors. Should any of you wish to take part in this type of thing don?t let lack of transportation or a partner stop you as we can usually fit you in with no problem.
Tuesday afternoon at the Recreation Centre continues to be a beehive of activity for the Tumbler Ridge 55+ Senior Group. There is always Floor Curling, of course, and we usually have a group playing cards or some other game. Any game that someone wants to bring along is welcome as we are all eager to learn or try something new or different, well, maybe not ?Twister?.
Saturday, May 3 another group of seven Seniors made the trip into Dawson Creek in the early AM to take part in the Zone 12 Playdowns in Floor Curling. Of the eight teams participating, two would qualify for the B.C. Seniors Games to be held in Prince George September 10-13 this year. Though our group had a great time, they reported being exhausted on their return after playing seven games throughout the day. None were successful in their Seniors Games bid. Participants were Joan and Mike Sidwell, Colleen Gies, Nellie Meredith, Norma Klein, Vera Phillips and Evelyn Sankovic.
We continue to have Cribbage on Wednesday nights at the library beginning at 7:00 PM. We are trying to get our game in shape for the Cribbage Playdowns in Hudson Hope on June 7. There will be several of us going to that so please join us. The requirements are: 1. You must be 55+ and a permanent resident of B.C. 2. You must purchase a membership in the B.C. Seniors Games ($15.00) (available through Joan Sidwell, our local representative for the Games). 3. You must go as a two person team. If you haven?t a partner come and see us anyway. There will surely be others who want to go but haven?t a partner.
The Golf Playdowns are in Ft. St. John at The Links on June 17. Again, a number of us will be going and taking several cars so if you golf come along. It?s just a fun day and I know you?ll enjoy it. We look forward to seeing you soon.
