Stolen snowmobile

A near-new snowmobile was stolen from a Tumbler Ridge driveway early on Tuesday (February 22 ).

At approximately 2 a.m., a 2010 Arctic Cat M8 was stolen from the back of a pickup truck parked in a residential driveway on the town’s upper bench. The sled is white, orange and black, with aftermarket shocks, an aluminum clutch, a ceramic coated pipe and new A-arms.

The sled was driven south along streets in the upper bench – along Hambrook Lane, Babcock Avenue, Murray Drive, Wapiti Drive, Sukunka Avenue, Pioneer Drive, and Mackenzie Way – before heading north along Highway 29 towards Chetwynd. Thanks to freshly fallen snow, an alert resident was able to track the snowmobile to that point on foot after calling the RCMP.

The thief appears to have been dropped off at the house by a truck before stealing the sled, noted the theft victim’s roommate.

Tumbler Ridge RCMP have opened a file on the incident. Anyone with information can contact the local RCMP detachment at 250-242-5252 or phone Ted at 250-257-0420. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
