Erin Haley Brings Home The Country To This Year’s Grizfest, July 31
Wednesday July 14, 2010 You can’t call Erin Haley an “up and comer” anymore. This young singer/songwriter from Barrhead, Alberta has arrived as a fully-formed artist with an original sound and vision. Her compelling new album, House On Fire is a work destined to spread word of her formidable talent with brushfire like speed. Beneath the breathtaking covergirl beauty exterior beats the heart of a genuine country gal. Erin’s clear, strong vocals empower the songs, some of which she co-wrote or were written with her in mind. This gives the material emotional believability, while the progressive production ensures that House On Fire stands apart from the cookie-cutter sound of so many new country albums. The album’s appropriately fiery title track features pedal steel and fiddle, yet possesses a real contemporary, rockin’ energy. It celebrates first love, sexual attraction and commitment all at the same time. Haley’s vocal ability allows her to deliver the ballads with strength and conviction, yet she rocks out with real energy on the uptempo, sassy and sexy material. Haley is seriously committed to evolving as a songwriter. Haley describes herself as ‘firstly a lyrics person. The core band is comprised of guitarist Paul Chapman, bassist John Dymond, drummer Jay Riehl, and pedal steel ace Burke Carroll, while notable guests include fiddle virtuoso Larry Franklin and banjo/mandolin player Ilya Toshinskiy. With her killer second record in the can, Erin Haley is eager to perform her songs across the country. She has won Western Canadian audiences over with her charm as a performer, both via her own shows in clubs and casinos and at festivals.
