SUMMER READING PROGRAM WRAPUP AT THE LIBRARY

On Friday August 12th, the library held the prize portion of the six week summer reading club program. This year there was a total of 2970 books read.

This year?s theme was ?Under Cover Reader?, and there was an outstanding 156 registrants on June 27th , ages ranging form newborns to teenagers. Throughout the program kids of all ages had the chance to participate in book bingo?s, craft hours, activity sheets and story time from Monday to Friday.

This year?s library summer student was Jael Rochon, and she led the children in crafting hours. Every Tuesday and Thursday the kids had a chance to work their skills at making all sorts of fun and exciting new things.

On August 12th, there was a wonderful 86 of the original registrants that had handed in their reading cards. The library gave a prize to every person just for participating. The excitement and smiles on everyone?s faces when they got their prize was great. Medals donated from the Royal Bank were given to the top readers in each age category.

A special thanks to all those who were involved this year.

The winner of the Shrek dragon kite was Matthew Schribar.
