Taylor Rec Centre Upgraded With 2010 Live Site Funding

TAYLOR – The Taylor Recreation Complex will undergo a series of renovations and upgrades thanks to $119,000 in provincial funding from the Olympic Paralympic Live Sites program, Peace River South MLA Blair Lekstrom announced today.

?The Taylor Recreation Complex is an important part of the community and I want to congratulate those who worked so hard to get this funding,?

said Lekstrom. ?It allows for a much needed upgrade that will enhance the usability of the swimming pool.?

The Live Sites funding will be used to replace the facilities pool deck and pool office, upgrade the exterior staircase to meet fire regulations, replace lighting and doors and purchase an outdoor tent for expanded community ceremonies and events.

Funding for the project comes from the Province?s $20 million commitment to the Live Sites program, which ensures a share of the benefits of hosting the 2010 Winter Games are made available to residents of the province, beyond the immediate Olympic-venue towns and cities. Financial support of up to $330,000 is awarded to projects, with budgets under $1 million, that provide opportunities for communities to participate in the spirit of the 2010 Games.
