Teck Cominco?s Vancouver 2010 partnership is ?great news? for BC mining industry

Teck Cominco?s partnership with Vancouver 2010 is being strongly endorsed by the BC mining industry, says Michael McPhie, president of the Mining Association of British Columbia.

?This is great news. Teck Cominco is one Canada?s premier mining companies. It is a real boost to see one of own share the stage at the world?s biggest celebration of sport, culture and sustainability,? said McPhie.

?It?s also a terrific opportunity to showcase mining in British Columbia and the important role mining plays in our everyday lives,? added McPhie.

McPhie was reacting to this morning?s news that Teck Cominco was selected as an Official Supporter of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. In its role as Official Supporter, Teck Cominco will be the exclusive metals supplier for all Vancouver 2010 competition medals.

It was also announced that Teck Cominco will support VANOC?s sustainability programs for the Games.
