The Tumbler Ridge Raptors Peewee team will be representing the Peace River region at the Northern BC Winter games in Dawson Creek this February. The games qualifier was held in Clearview on Saturday November 17th. Unable to field a team with adequate numbers, Tumbler Ridge was joined by eight Hudson Hope players to field a roster of 19 players. The Raptors were victorious playing back to back games defeating Fort St. John 7-4 and Taylor 5-1.
?I?m really proud of the way the kids came together and played on very short notice. They played as a team with great sportsmanship and their hard work was rewarded. They were excellent ambassadors for Tumbler Ridge?, said Coach Brian Wylie.
The games were also the first opportunity for Tumbler Ridge to show off their new jerseys. The front logo of a Raptor against the TR symbol was designed by Jason Collison. The new jerseys will be worn by all teams in the TRMHA and will be easily recognized throughout the Peace region. This will unify all our league players from the youngest to the oldest as Tumbler Ridge Raptors.
?Not only did the team play great, they also looked great in their new jerseys?, said parent Shelley Leach.
There is a $65 cost for each member of the team to participate in the Winter games and donations from the community would be greatly appreciated in order to help offset the expenses associated with sending our team to the games. Call TRMHA @ 242-2008 if you would like to help. Minor hockey remains a fun and successful sport in Tumbler Ridge. Good luck to all Raptors for the rest of the 2007/2008 season!
