TRISPS CRAFT FAIR held

This was one of the events of the season for anyone wanting unique home-style gifts for themselves and others. The timing was perfect for the Christmas Season and whether you need to pack it up and send it off or just tuck it under the tree, there is still time to spare.

TRISPS Craft Fair is an annual crafter?s delight. In its 23rd year as a fundraiser for Tumbler Ridge Indoor Swimming Pool Society, the proceeds from table rentals and commissions go to support the aquatic centre. It has been an annual event since 1982, originally coordinated by the Hartford family.

This year, 36 crafters were on site spread over 54 tables and the crowd swelled Saturday, even after a very successful Friday night with sneak-a-peekers arriving ahead of time to catch a glimpse. The fair ran from Friday at 6-10 pm and then again Saturday 10am -4 pm.

Prizes were donated by each crafter and over 44 were given away. Unclaimed prizes can be picked up at the library during regular hours.Organizer Crys White, with the help of a new committee, reported that the fair raised $1100. White is grateful to the many participants, including C.O.P.S. who served as security Friday night to protect the items within the community centre. Said White, ? I felt it went well, and intend organizing it again next year.? And speaking of next year, the date has already been set. Mark November 4th and 5th on your 2006 calendar. Table rentals will be handled by Cry White at 242-4499.
