TUMBLER RIDGE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament had 62 participants. There were two hole in one prizes. Hole # 3 had a Ford Ranger Truck, gettig a hole in one would give you a two year lease for free; sponsored by Capital Motors in Dawson. The closest to winning that prize was Pernell Kirby, his ball landed about 18 inches from the hole and then bounced in another direction. Next year Pernell! You could go shopping for a total of $10,000.00 in Ernie?s Sports Experts store in Grande Prairie if you got a hole in one on hole #6.

People started coming down to the golf course around 11:00 AM to get registered, visit, go use the driving range with some pointers for a better drive, etc. from the Golf Pro – Owen. They then got ready to go out on the course to their appointed holes for a shot gun start ? 18 holes Best Ball Texas Scramble.

When standing at the club house you could hear hoots and hollers from around the course, letting us know that someone had made a good shot, it sounded like everyone was having fun. The weather was a bit cooler than we would have liked, but it only rained a little which was a big plus. Michele Burton and myself used a golf cart to go around and bother the golfers and get some very good pictures. Anyone that knows you had your picture taken, and you want a copy, call me at the office, as we promised not to publish some of them!!

Our dinner was excellent, it was a four oz beef steak, salmon steak, roasted potatoes, fresh veggies and salad. Thanks to Owen, Trevor and all the staff at the Golf Club, they did everything they could to make this day a success. Thanks again to all our gift, cash, silent auction, putting green, hole in one sponsors, volunteers and golfers. Hope to see you all and your friends next year.
