PARENTS AS PARTNERS
The staff at Tumbler Ridge Elementary would like all parents to attend an information meeting on Monday, September 21st at 7:00 in the school gym.
The structure of this evening is to first meet on a large scale in the gym to share some ideas that would help us make your child more successful throughout the school year. Then you will be given a chance to go to each of your childs classrooms to meet the teacher and hear first hand a little about their classroom. We will be doing this in 15-minute chunks so if you have more than one child in our school, you should be able to fit them in.
There will also be a survey that we would like you to fill out to give us some feedback about our school.
This is a ?parent only? night so hopefully you can make arrangements for your children for about an hour.
Parent Advisory Council
The Parent Advisory Council group consists of parents from both schools. The first meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, September 23rd at 7:00 in the staff room at TRE. Please consider being a part of this group as this is a way to be a part of your childs education. Elections will take place at this meeting.
The Planning Council is another body of interested parents, who help out with the School Growth Plan. If you are interested in being a part of this, please contact the school.
PARKING LOT CONGESTION
With student safety in mind, please consider helping us to make the parking lot at the school less congested.
If you would like to do a ?DRIVE THRU? drop off and pick up, please use the cul-de-sac off of Spruce Street. For the ?main parking lot?, we would ask parents to pull into a spot and park. This would be best for parents of the younger students or perhaps parents that need to come into the school for some reason. ?Willow Street? on the side closest to the school can also be used for extra parking space. By parking on the closest side, your child will not have to cross the street.
Please talk with your children about where your ?meeting spot? will be and keep that routine for the year. Hopefully this will help alleviate the problem.
In the interest of safety, please ?park? your vehicle to let your child out rather than driving through the parking lot and letting them jump out. This will prevent others from inadvertently backing up without seeing someone being dropped off. Students can also be dropped off at the 3 locations as well — the main parking lot, the cul-de-sac and Willow.
