TUMBLER RIDGE FIRE DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT

In the month of August, the Tumbler Ridge Fire Department responded to thirteen calls. These included five reports of ringing fire alarms, five First Responder calls to assist BC Ambulance, one report of smoke, one report of an activated carbon monoxide detector, and one motor vehicle incident.

During that month, the Tumbler Ridge firefighters conducted training in auto-extrication, confined space rescue, and initial attack for structure fires. The Tumbler Ridge Firefighters? Association also had their annual golf tournament last month and we would like to thank Guillevin Safety, Acklands-Grainger and Rocky Mountain Phoenix for their support of this event.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back Firefighter Brandon Braam. Brandon came to Tumbler Ridge during the summer for a temporary job with the fire department. He left to get married at the end of his contract and has now returned to Tumbler Ridge. He is currently employed with Peace River Coal and is again serving as a volunteer with the fire department.

We currently have twelve firefighters and two probationary firefighters on our roster. The TRFD is always looking for new members who work well as a team and are willing to attend practices on a regular basis. Previous experience is not necessary. If you are interested, stop by the fire hall for an application, or if you have any questions, you can call the fire hall at 250-242-3939.
