Tumbler Ridge girls bring home medals

Danielle and Bianca Golob travelled to Prince George to compete in their first Highland Dance competion of 2005. Prince George hosted 75 competitors from the region, from 100 Mile House to Tumbler Ridge. Danielle placed FIRST overall with a score of 3-1st and 1-2nd. Bianca placed THIRD overall with 1-2nd, 2-3rd, and 1-5th.

Danielle and Bianca take lessons in Fort St. John once a week at the Heather McCracken School of Highland Dance. McKracken has been dancing for 13 years and has a student load of 25 dancers. The McCracken dancers travel throughout the Peace, dancing and performing at functions.

Both Danielle and Bianca have been dancing for the past seven years in Parksville. Last year they travelled once a month for lessons until they found Heather.

The girls are offering highland dance lessons during the Christmas break for ages 3 to 10. Interested parents can contact the Community Centre to register. The closing date for registrations is December 16th. The classes are one hour long running from December 19th to 23rd, and cost per child is $35.00.
