The TR Midget Raptors took home the gold in an exciting weekend of hockey, winning all their games. “It’s great to win a home tournament,” said Coach Brian Wylie “and the support we received from the TR fans in the stands was awesome”.
The most exciting game o f the tournament was Saturday night against Fort Nelson with Tumbler Ridge winning 2–1. “It was a great game as both teams were fairly evenly matched,” says Wylie. “We have a long standing rivalry with Fort Nelson, so it was fantastic to score the second goal late in the last period. I asked one hundred percent from my players and they gave one hundred and ten percent. I’m proud to be their coach. We are trying to organize a game against Chetwynd for the near future and will be sure to let the fans know.” All in all a great weekend.
For TR Midget Jedd Gaudreault the win was bittersweet as it was his last game as a Raptor. Gaudreault has played for the Raptors since PeeWee but as of last Friday he laced up for the AAA Tracker team for the remainder of the season. He was scouted earlier in the season and the Tracker scouts were impressed by what they saw. “We wish Jedd every success in his hockey future,” says coach Wylie.
