Tumbler Ridge Sports Hall of Fame Nominations

Please consider this invitation to submit a nomination for the Tumbler Ridge Sports Hall of Fame.

This exciting new exhibit will be housed in the downstairs section of the Tumbler Ridge Community Centre, and will be something that all Tumbler Ridge residents (past, present and future) and visitors will be able to cherish. It will hopefully also act as an inspiration in the pursuit of excellence for the next generation of Tumbler Ridge sporting greats.

Nominations will be considered quarterly, and are to be submitted to the above address. Submission deadlines are December 31, March 31, June 30 and September 30. The selection committee will comprise the Mayor of Tumbler Ridge (or a designate), the Director of the Tumbler Ridge Community Centre (or a designate), and the President of the Tumbler Ridge Museum Foundation (or a designate).

Listed below is the criteria that will be used in evaluating nominations. If possible, please submit photographs, ideally of the sport.

TUMBLER RIDGE SPORTS HALL OF FAME

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The deadline for the next round of nominations for the Tumbler Ridge Sports Hall of Fame is 31 March 2007. The Hall of Fame was officially opened in the downstairs section of the Tumbler Ridge Community Centre in February 2007, and the first three members were inducted: Jason Delesalle, Kris Swanson and Al Tattersall.

Nominees are required to meet one of the following criteria:

Athletes: Must have represented their sport with distinction at international, national or provincial level. Must have been resident in Tumbler Ridge for at least three years.

Teams: Must have represented their sport and Tumbler Ridge at international, national or provincial level.

Builders: Must have enhanced sport or outdoor recreation in Tumbler Ridge over at least a ten year period (in such fields as leadership, coaching, refereeing, administration, media).

Retroactive: The individual must have been resident in Tumbler Ridge for at least five years, and represented his/her sport with distinction at national or international level, prior to arriving in Tumbler Ridge.

For an individual or team to be inducted into the Tumbler Ridge Sports Hall of Fame it is necessary for the written nomination to demonstrate that the athlete / team / builder possesses qualities which will be an inspiration to others. Documentary proof of achievements needs to be attached.

The reviewing committee comprises representatives from the Tumbler Ridge Museum Foundation, the Tumbler Ridge Community Centre, and the District of Tumbler Ridge.
