The Wolverine Nordic and Mountain Society is organizing the 17th Annual Ridge Ramble Biathlon on Saturday June 3rd on the streets of Tumbler Ridge, beginning and ending on Monkman Way near the Skate Park.
Kids start at 9 am, adults at 10 am. Kids cycle 4 km and run 2km, adults cycle 10 km and run 5 km.
There are individual male and female categories, as well as team events, and the kids race is divided into 7 and under, 8-10, and 11-15 age groups.
2005 was the first time the Biathlon was held on the shorter route (previously it was 20 km cycle and 10 km run) and the new route was well received, with praise for the wide newly paved streets which provide a great cycling and running surface.
Entry fee is $5.00, and registration opens at 8-15 on the morning of the race. Medals are presented to the first three finishers in each category.
This is WNMS?s longest-running event and is always lots of fun, ideal for family participation. The number of entries has been increasing steadily for the past few years, hopefully this trend will continue.
Please call Linda at 242 3984 for further details, or if you are able to volunteer on the day.
