Western Canadian Coal Corp has submitted the Additional Information Report required for application for an environmental assessment certificate under the Environmental Assessment Act for the Wolverine Coal Project.
The Wolverine Coal Project is a metallurgical coal mine that includes two open pits and associated infrastructure, all located in the Wolverine Valley, near Tumbler Ridge, BC. Production rate is 1.6 million tonnes per year for 11 years.
The Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) invites comments on the Additional Information Report between May 26th and August 8th to ensure that public issues are identified and addressed as part of the environmental assessment review process.
All comments received will be available to the general public, as originally submitted, through the EAO Project Information Centre. If you do not indicate that you wish your personal information (full address, email address, and telephone number) to be treated in confidence, it will be made public.
An electronic copy of the Additional Information Report as well as information regarding the environmental assessment process are available through the EAO Project Information Centre on-line at
www.eao.gov.bc.ca and in the public libraries in Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge.
