Winterfest Committee looking for local support

The finishing touches are being put on this year?s first annual Winterfest, slated for February 11-13. In order to financially support the events being planned for this year?s festival, the Winterfest committee would like to encourage local residents to purchase a Winterfest button to help generate the funding required to put on such an event. Costs associated with hosting similar events would include among other things, advertising and prizes. Tumbler Ridge residents have always embraced these types of events and we would like to invite you again.

With the purchase of a $3 button, the recipient will be entitled to participate in any of the numerous events being planned for the weekend, at no charge. During this weekend we encourage you to come and watch the TR Minor Hockey Tournament. Snow sculpting, cross-country ski races, curling events and tea boiling and dog races are but a few of the participant events being organized. For evening entertainment there will be a dance sponsored by the Arts Council, in rooms 4 & 5 on Saturday night.

This is an opportune time for Tumbler Ridge to showcase its hospitality by putting on a festival to remember and return to. Come on out and enjoy these events, while you help our community celebrate winter life in the North. We are at a unique stage in our growth, so lets join together to make this a successful event.

Buttons may be purchased at various locations around town or from committee members. If you would like one and are unable to locate them, please call 242-4350 and we?ll make sure to make them available to you.
